I made these 4 watercolours at Ponta Malongane in Mozambique on July 14, 2025, the day that Andrea Gibson died. I felt such grief that day—like I’d lost someone I had known and loved. Of course, I hadn’t known Andrea in person, but their poetry made me feel I knew them and they me somehow. They’d been a balm, a solace to my shattered heart more times that I could count.

I named these pieces in Andrea’s memory from lines in their poem “good light”.

They are made using watercolours and sand from the beach and this one has some charcoal from a piece of wood from our campfire.
